Florescent tubes and bulbs
Computers and monitors (*limit two systems)
Cellular phones
TVs (limit 2)
Oil, filters and antifreeze (limit 5 gallons motor oil)
Refrigerators, A/C units, dehumidifiers
Auto and pickup tires (limit 10) $1.00 ea. off rim, $2.00 ea. on rim
Front tractor tire: $3.00 ea (limit 2)
Rear tractor tire: $10.00 ea. (limit 2)
Car batteries (must not be cracked and must have caps on cells)
Rechargeable batteries: (ni-mh, ni-cd, ni-zn, li-ion, pb, button type batteries)
(No alkaline batteries accepted.)
(*Beginning June 7, 2011 SISWD will be temporarily waving fees for the disposal of televisions and refrigerant-bearing items for residential customers living within their district.)
Notice: This site accepts Household Hazardous Waste (HHW), such as chemicals, pesticides, paint thinners, oil-based paints, etc. on the second Saturday of each quarter from 8am-10am only. The next Switzerland/Ohio County HHW day is scheduled for Sat. May 12, 2012 from 8am-10am. Effective immediately, SISWD Recycling Centers are no longer accepting any oil-based paints and stains except on designated HHW collection days. Fluorescent tubes and bulbs are the only HHW drop off items accepted during normal business hours. In addition, any unlabeled/unidentifiable items or latex paints can no longer be accepted.
Switzerland County residents may drop off their medical waste,such as all unused 24/7. Ohio County residents may take theirs to the Ohio County Health Department. Controlled medicines (narcotics) are to be taken to the Rising Sun Police Dept. See our Household Hazardous Waste sections for the designated days in your area.
